ROLES  

Production Manager

The Production Manager manages many aspects of our production team by facilitating projects from start to finish.  From ordering materials to coordinating deliveries and engaging vendors the PM is the maestro.  Interested candidates must excel at communication, multitasking, customer service and efficiency.  This is not a woodworking position but an understanding of the materials and processes involved in furniture production would be an asset.  Project and staff management experience is also favourable.  Pay rate is based on experience with paid holidays and health benefits package. 8-4pm Monday-Friday, 40hrs per week. We are looking for a long term dedicated applicant. Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Prioritize daily tasks
  • Ensure projects are completed on or before due date
  • Understand scope and processes involved in each project
  • Coordinate transportation of materials from suppliers and vendors
  • Coordinate sub-trades
  • Manage shipping and logistics
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Communicate with clients and arrange deliveries
  • Oversee woodworking/metalworking staff
  • Track and Report progress to Ownership
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Compensation based on experience
  • Experience with Apple/Mac and Slack are greatly appreciate

    Junior Product Designer

    This is an exciting immersive role linked to long term product development, design for manufacturing, sourcing and day-to-day operations of sister  companies Union Wood Co and GOODLAND.  This role is equal parts challenging, engaging and rewarding as we work as a team to develop new ideas and bring unique products over the finish line.  See your ideas come to life with our talented team of craftspeople.  This is not a hands-on woodworking position and hands-on experience is not required.  Many backgrounds may be suitable for this but applicants must feed off creativity and enjoy a deep dive into projects. Experience designing with solid wood, veneer, sheet materials, steel, sheet metal  and their processes is required.  Experience in graphic design is also required.  Please share your personal design inspirations, experience and anything creative you have worked on to help us learn about you!

    • Must be  available to work in-person in Vancouver, BC
    • Develop and source for ongoing projects
    • Source and communicate with new and existing vendors
    • Develop and execute graphic assets based on brand guidelines
    • Create technical shop drawings with the assistance of our skilled team
    • Candidate must possess a reasonable knowledge of the raw materials, components and hardware available for construction of furniture
    • Work as a team to develop design concepts
    • Must be competent in various design programs (Adobe and CAD) and files and own a computer 
    • Must be very detail oriented, focus, flexible and goal oriented
    • Strong computer and communication skills are a must
    • Compensation based on related experience 

     Woodworker (Experienced)

    Our Experienced Woodworkers oversee the production of our furniture from start to finish, as well as advising on pre-production design. Working from CAD drawings, our skilled jointers work with with both solid wood and sheet materials to fabricated the pieces to the greatest degree of detail and accuracy. Milling, jointing, gluing, ripping, sanding, assembling and prepping the items for finishing.  Pay rate is based on experience with paid holidays and a health benefits package. Competitive wages and a great work environment.

    • Must possess a minimum of 3+ years in a commercial woodworking shop
    • Must be motivated and self managing
    • Must be able to work as a team
    • Must be able to interpret and build from CAD drawings
    • Extensive experience with solid wood furniture making techniques
    • Extensive experience with sheet materials and cabinet making techniques
    • Hardworking and detail oriented
    • Competitive compensation based on experience
    • Full time hours Monday-Friday 8-4pm
    • Drivers License required

      Woodworker (Junior & Apprentice Position)

    Our Junior & Apprentice woodworkers work along side and to support Lead Builders in the production of our furniture. Working from verbal or written instructions, junior woodworkers work with with both solid wood and sheet materials to fabricated the pieces with attention to detail and accuracy. Sanding, jointing, ripping, gluing, building crates, packing and delivering are all daily tasks. Pay rate is based on related experience with paid holidays and a health benefits package. 

    • Must possess thorough knowledge and experience with woodworking and tools
    • Must be motivated, self managing, and able to work well as a group
    • Experience ripping, gluing, sanding and hand-finishing solid wood is required
    • Hardworking and good listener
    • Compensation based on related shop experience
    • Full time hours Monday-Friday 8-4pm
    • Occasional Saturdays required
    • Drivers License 

     Design Director

    Do you have a passion for style and a head full of product ideas?  Our design director position is a creative and rewarding job for applicants with various backgrounds. A blend of artist and industrial designer, this role is immersed in all creative fields associated with day-to-day operations of Union Wood Co.  This role is equal parts challenging, engaging and rewarding as we work as a team developing projects for both long term and short term goals. Lead trends by designing new collections of furniture, developing new products and other creative tasks. See your ideas come to life with our talented team of craftspeople.  This is not a hands-on woodworking position and hands-on experience is not required.  Many backgrounds may be suitable for this but applicants must feed off creativity and enjoy a deep dive into projects. We want to meet you and learn about your vision.  Please submit your personal design inspiration, moodboard/feed, experience and anything creative you have worked on to help us learn about you!

    • Lead a variety of creative projects for Union Wood Co.
    • Design and develop new furniture and product collections
    • Advise creative direction of brand identity and communications
    • Create technical shop drawings with the assistance of our skilled team
    • Candidate must possess a reasonable knowledge of the raw materials, components and hardware available for construction of furniture, training available
    • Must be competent in various design programs and files and own a computer with CAD and Sketch Up
    • Must be very detail oriented, focus, flexible and goal oriented
    • Strong computer and communication skills are a must
    • Scheduling flexibility, office and work from home available
    • Compensation based on related experience

      Welder/Fabricator 

      • Must possess thorough knowledge of metal fabrication and tools
      • Must be motivated, self managing, and able to work well as a group
      • Experience cutting, welding, grinding and fabricating to specific drawings
      • Hardworking
      • Compensation based on experience
      • Full time hours Monday-Friday 8-4pm
      • Occasional Saturdays required
